    Coastal Couture: Make Waves this New Zealand Paua & Pearl Set

    There is no happier coincidence than when my Marine World makes love to my Jewellery Designer world! Paua, that otherworldly material (with the most amazing chemistry) from New Zealand , mixed with pearls in the oceanic peacock blue- purple- black spectrum, set into a cool silver-plated base. I think particularly the necklace has a real 1970s sensibility.

    There is a good reason why Paua is called "Marine Opal" - although this is so hard to capture in images!  I brought back lots of Paua from my last two New Zealand trips , where it is rightly revered as one of the most beautiful and culturally significant materials (The raw Paua pieces come from the Chatham Islands).

    I think I am so in love with Paua because, not only does it look amazing, but working with Paua satisfies both the designer and the scientist in me. It is such wonderful material to work with - the iridescence of its Nacre (Mother of Pearl) is really like working with materialised Northern Light.
    Interestingly, this mesmerising effect is created when light shines on the thick nacre shell layer. Subsequently, the reflected light on the inner layer interferes with the reflections of light on the outer layer, causing the iridescent effect. Wave physics have never looked better!

    In this set I added enough midnight blue-black pearls purple Amethyst & Agates to harmonise with the lilac, purple and green hues in the Paua, complemented with a enough silver to give it a cool & calming background.

    You may chose the luscious twin Paua pieces Statement earrings for a big night out, but the set also includes exquisitely faceted tiny Amethyst & Paua teardrops earrings for when you feel like something smaller!
    • Statement Necklace: short, length can be varied via extender chain
    • Statement Earrings: main stone: Agate Geodes & Paua; length: 6.2cm

    Statement bracelets are made to measure, so please make sure to leave size instructions (your wrist circumference at the widest point right over the wrist bone; see photo). Without your wrist measurement I can't finish your order.
