No49 Xmas 2022 Special Set

This set is all about our collective attraction to the vivacious & mesmerizing semi-precious Lapis Lazuli. This irresistibly ultra-blue stone has been mined for longer than Gold (for about 10 000 years in what is Afghanistan today), but it is the Egyptians who made it much more “mainstream “by turning it into a pigment around 4000 years ago. During the time of the Dutch Master Painters such as Vermeer it was the most expensive ultramarine pigment on the planet - thankfully this vivid semi-precious stone has become much more affordable today.

Like all our pieces, this one-of-a-kind 4-piece set is handcrafted with love and care in our studio near Byron Bay. Made from the following semi-precious stones and findings:

  • Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan, Pakistan & India
  • Agates from Brazil
  • Hematite (plated) & Howlite from Hong Kong
  • Silver-plated parts from Istanbul & Bali
  • Necklace length: can be extended through the extender chain from 39-55cm
  • Statement Earrings length:5.9cm

Statement bracelets  are made to measure, so please make sure to leave size instructions(your wrist circumference at the widest point right over the wrist bone; see photo). Without your wrist measurement I can't finish your order.

If you have a particularly small frame or need your necklace to be larger, please drop me a line. (kirsten@luka.com.au)

    A celebration of Lapiz Lazuli

A gorgeous celebration of one of my favourite gemstones with its intense blue colour. Love it that since the earliest of times, lapis lazuli has been associated with strength and courage, royalty and wisdom, intellect and truth.
