Lapis Lazuli – once the most expensive ultramarine pigment – loved by pharaohs and Dutch painters such as Van der Meer alike has not lost any of the luscious feelings it evokes, but thankfully it has become much more affordable.

In this piece the richness of raw Afghani, Pakistani and Indian Lapis Lazuli with specks of pyrite (fools’ gold) is contrasted with lighter mother of Pearl, recycled glass beads and tiny faceted Agates. Keeping it extremely harmonious with silver-plated findings from Istanbul, Bali & Jaipur these pieces will become staples of your wardrobe for many years to come. 

One of the best features of this necklace is that I designed it to be worn long, but you can also double it up and wear it as a two-strand shortie.

Lapis Lazuli has been mined longer than gold with some psychologists suggesting we all share a continued subconscious attraction to this luscious stone because there is nothing much else on this planet that is of such intense blue colouring. For myself, I need no explanation as to why I love Lapis Lazuli – the deepness of the indigo with its fine golden pyrite inclusions fascinates me every time again and works so well with so many outfits!
