No 40 Christmas 2023 Special Set

I so rarely get this excited about terrestrial critters- but these dragonflies from Istanbul have drawn me in big time! They look like they have just flown out of Lalique’s studio in Paris. I paired the dragonfly with every shape of black Onyx, Lava, Tourmaline & Agates semi-precious stones with lots of silver.

Using the same technique the painter Gustav Klimt used to create his unbelievable gold effects on his paintings, I used silver leaf to gild meek black lava beads. Each bead looks like a small globe with unknown silver continents….

Look carefully and you will see a vintage Arabic Prayer bead that has been exquisitely inlaid in meticulous detail, a quality of work hard to find in today’s day and age. The refined quality of these beads belies the long journey they have traveled through the back alleys and markets of North Africa.
