0Off the rocks near Lennox Head, I met a blenny peering from an orange sponge like a nosy landlord — all rust, saffron, and burnished gold, framed by the Atlantic-blue shallows. Its colour palette was pure Mookaite, that ancient Australian stone born near Mooka Creek — “running water” in the Tharrkari language — where silica replaced marine fossils 115 million years ago.

These earrings carry that same story: Mookaite crescents paired with hammered Sterling silver bars, finished with Indian Hessonite, Carnelian and Citrine — the exact hues of reef flame and Outback dusk. They are 6.8cm long and set into silver-plated earhooks from Seoul.

Once carried by Aboriginal travellers and later reborn in the 1980s Australiana Revival, Mookaite bridges sea and desert, myth and mineral.
