The Oldest Greens I Could Find

We are incredibly lucky to have access to a place like Lord Howe Island—remote, protected, and generous in a way that only reveals itself if you stay open long enough—and I spent a dive holiday there with my son Luca, with a K, as I do every year, letting that layered blue-green world quietly work its way in.

This set leans heavily into that immersion, anchored by Kambaba jasper—stromatolitic, ancient, built by microbial communities closely related to what we call blue-green algae, the same lineage that helped oxygenate the early atmosphere—its deep, swirling greens reading less like pattern and more like time made visible. Around it, I built a palette that holds that reef translucency without flattening it: sea sediment jasper, raw fluorite, prehnite, blister pearls, turquoise, Peruvian amazonite and agates, all threaded through two necklaces—an outer, more expressive strand and a finer inner line—each with extender chains so they can be worn alone, stacked with intent, or connected into one long, continuous flow.

The earrings resolve the set across three distinct moods: a statement pair with elongated Kambaba jasper drops layered with prehnite and fine turquoise accents that pull the eye immediately; a second, lighter pair where small Kambaba barrels and amazonite are suspended in elongated forms on French ear wires, creating a softer, more fluid line along the neck; and finally, a minimal pair—a tight, precise stack of prehnite and turquoise—when you want just a trace of that colour without the weight of it.
