N°17 Mother's Day 2025 Special Set

For the Love of Sponges

When I designed this set, I felt bold and a little unstoppable. It takes me straight back to a night dive under a pier Tonga, where colonies of massive orange sponges overgrow large zig-zag oysters like living sculptures ( see next images).
That dive was like swimming through a cathedral of sponge sculpture, with the underwater torch light shafting through the gaps and shoals of fish darting between. The colours under there were fierce—intense reds, burnt oranges, deep golds, and shadowy blacks.

The necklace draws directly from that sponge-swathed reefscape. Jasper, Carnelian, Sardonyx, Druzy Agate, Agate, and Crazy Lace Agate layer together to mirror the rich, uneven textures of those sponge colonies. The bold, angular Jade focal stone is the visual anchor—like the largest, sun-baked orange sponge clinging to a pier leg. Around it, Sardonyx, Onyx, Agates, Carnelian and Jasper bring depth and contrast, just like the way reef shadows add drama to the blaze of sponge colour underwater.

The asymmetry is deliberate—like how nothing under the pier is regular, but everything fits perfectly. The strands of smoky black onyx  hint at the darker crevices and cool spaces between sponge outcrops, and the brushed 22k-plated gold elements shimmer just like the quicksilver flashes of glassfish schooling nearby.

There are 3 pairs of earrings to choose from, depending on your mood:

• The earrings on the left are a direct nod to the shape and surface texture of the barrel sponges. The Sardonyx beads show natural banding, just like the growth lines you see on healthy sponges—proof of time, endurance, and nutrient-rich waters. They're set into intricate, textured 22k-plated forms that radiate outward like a sponge body stretching to catch every available current (6.3cm long).
• The second pair are sleek Sardonyx drops - simplicity with a bang. They’re comfortable, dynamic, and—yes—seriously conversation-starting. 
• The third onyx stack is perfect for those days when you feel like a little less
