Purple and a Hint of Drift

This colour story began with a creature most people avoid: the bluebottle, Physalia physalis. Washed onto the beach, its body is a perfect gradient—electric turquoise fading into lavender, finishing in deep amethyst. Yes, it stings. But it’s also one of the most hypnotic drifters in the ocean. The second photo shows exactly what I mean: iridescence with attitude.

That spectrum flowed straight into the outer necklace, built from large slabs of turquoise–lavender sea-sediment jasper, streaked with earthy creams, and laced with tiny Brazilian agates. The silver-plated hematite chevrons give it a clean architectural edge. Its focal point, a detailed silver fern, nods to the natural world with a 1920s Art Deco sensibility.

The inner necklace stays slender: micro-amethyst beads, tiny blue agates, and a delicate star pendant holding an Indian amethyst—very era-appropriate, very celestial.

Two earring options complete the set: a long, elegant pair with turquoise drops and amethyst stacks for quieter days, and a bolder pair with Uruguayan amethyst barrels, recycled-glass shards, and Peruvian amazonite for when subtlety feels optional (5.3cm long).

The necklaces can be worn separately, stacked, or connected for a longer line—but the design truly shines resting on the décolletage, like a tide line of colour, light, and drift.

I would like to think that this set mixes elegance and biological wildness, a reminder that beauty often hides in organisms we underestimate. In today’s design world—where maximalism, colour confidence, and organic geometry are finally having their moment—this piece fits effortlessly. It bridges nature and structure, 1920s clarity and contemporary boldness.
