N°125 Christmas 2025 Special Earrings

Most people know the cowrie as a souvenir — smooth, shiny, innocent. But meet one alive, sliding over kelp and you realise it’s less trinket, more enigma. 

My encounter became these 7.9 cm earrings, built around real cowrie shells, set in silver-plated bezels and crowned with Shiva shells — those perfect little snail doors that literally keep life inside when the tide retreats. A small reminder that survival can be stunning.

The top disks carry antique-plated silver into which I set tiny pearls, echoing the quiet armour of the sea. It’s a true oceanic trifecta — form, function, and a whisper of danger — without ever tipping into kitsch.

They feel like salt-sprayed confidence — clean, tactile, unapologetically coastal. The kind of summer piece that says: yes, I’ve seen the ocean at night — and it looked back.
