Wear a Little Mexican Wildness

Some stones seem to have ignored the usual geological instructions. Crazy Lace Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico is one of them, with ribbons of rust, ochre, cream and scarlet twisting through each piece as though somebody became rather carried away with a very small paintbrush.

Those colours made an extraordinary connection with the ancient paintings I encountered in Sri Lanka—the same burnt reds, chalky creams and earthy golds, and that same glorious refusal to be visually timid.

Here, I paired this extraordinary high quality crazy lace agate with faceted quartz crystals and a warm gold-plated setting, allowing all that natural pattern to do most of the talking (7.5cm long).

In these earrings, I tried to translate the exuberance of those ancient painted surfaces into something you can actually wear—rich in colour, wonderfully individual and just eccentric enough to make people look twice.

Like all our pieces, these one-of-a-kind earrings were handcrafted with love and care in our studio in Lennox Head.
