An Oceanic Bag of Smarties

Some creatures look like they’ve been designed by a committee of dreamers. The Flabellina nudibranch is one of them — translucent lavender with veins of neon orange, the kind of colour combination that makes you question evolution’s restraint. I met one once, and it burned itself into memory — nature’s own avant-garde.

These 6.1 cm earrings are my attempt at translating that riot of beauty into wearable joy. Faceted amethyst, recycled glass shards from the US, and a flicker of carnelian — all anchored by hammered silver-plated triangles from Istanbul and ear hooks from Seoul. They’re small, yes, but they radiate.

It’s impossible to wear these and not feel a lift — a microdose of coral reef optimism. Proof that sometimes, colour is its own kind of medicine. Call them your emotional pick-me-up, disguised as jewellery.
