Maligano Jasper — The Colours of Ancient Ceylon

This pair was inspired by a palette I kept encountering throughout Sri Lanka: deep ochre, old gold, cinnamon, burnt orange, charcoal and sun-aged cream, particularly in Buddha statues and temple art, where these earthy colours seem to glow against the tropical landscape.

Maligano Jasper from Indonesia was the extraordinary material through which to translate those colours, complemented by tiny sky blue quartz crystals and set into a silver-plated base from Jaipur and Seoul (7.6cm long). Each slice resembles a miniature abstract painting, with ochres, creams, rusts, greys and black forming sweeping fields, fractured lines and almost painterly markings that nature somehow composed without human intervention.

In these earrings, I tried to translate that warmer, earthier side of Sri Lanka through the extraordinary natural artwork of the Maligano Jasper. They bring warmth and visual interest to what you're already wearing without demanding that the rest of your wardrobe compete with them.
