N°1063 Necklace & Earrings Set - The Pearl Collection

Even if you are not interested in crosses per se, have a look at this one and just try to and contemplate how a PEARL cross may have come into existence?

It's not a freak of nature, but the painstaking work and intimate knowledge of oyster biology of a pearl farmer.

As you probably know, a pearl is produced upon an intrusion, of a virus, a sand corn , a parasite,.. into the oyster's mantle; and the pearl is a multi-layered effort by the oyster to make the intruder inactive.

So this case the pearls farmer retrieved the oyster from the water, ever so carefully opened it and transplanted an intrusion in form of a cross into the mantle. The oyster has then spent years depositing organic and inorganic layers around it to produce a pearl cross.

But this isn't where the story ends, the cross then got embellished by micro-rhinestones... and finally ended up with other rhinestones, pearls and 22k-gold & silver charms in this necklace. Please do zoom in!
