N°1052 Statement Earrings - The Pearl Collection

Below the pearls and tiny moonstones, a meticulously crafted silver cast of a murex snail shell takes prominence. The murex snail shell is known for its intricate spiral patterns and spiky protrusions, and this silver cast captures its organic beauty in exquisite detail. 

I rarely use natural casts, but the casts of this Murex shell are extraordinary in its detail and finish, I could not resist. It is also the coolest of molluscs (they hunt other snails!) and the members of the Muricidae were used to create Tyrian purple - the Queen of all royal dyes.

Like many of my pieces, these earrings  represent my sense of wonder and appreciation for the complexities of the natural world. I hope its intricate structure serves as a reminder of the fascinating forms found in the depths of the ocean (22k gold & silver-plated base; 7.0cm long).
