Mythological Elephants

These two baby elephants were already doing all the creative work for me — tumbling about on that extraordinary patch of fresh green grass beside the water, all flapping ears, unruly trunks and ridiculous baby-elephant legs.

Rather than translate them literally, I followed the whimsy. That led me to these wonderfully odd little Minotaurs and mythical creatures, with their ancient, slightly mysterious shapes and beautiful verdigris surfaces. They felt like exactly the right companions for two young elephants behaving badly.

The turquoise-green copper patina picks up the water and tropical colours around them, while pale green quartz crystals echo the soft green grass beneath their feet. I set everything into a 22k gold-plated base, adding warmth and a little bit of grandeur to the whole strange menagerie (6.2cm long).

Two baby elephants went into the design. Mythological creatures came out. Perfectly reasonable, really.
