N°103 Christmas 2025 Special Earrings

Some materials already carry their own narrative—you just have to build around it quietly. The stone in these earrings immediately reminded me of central Australia: the deep red terrain, the iron-rich escarpments, the almost surreal geometry of the outback.

The colours feel lifted straight from the Kimberley—burnt ochres, muted blood-reds, and that dark, expansive grey- black that calls to mind the desert sky after sunset (spoiler alert- the jasper is from Utah!). In the sun these stones light up (as in the photo), in the shade they are much more muted - just like the land itself.

I didn’t want to compete with that. So I kept the structure simple: small, warm cuts of carnelian and hessonite above, and a single hammered bar of vermeil—gold over sterling—to reflect just enough light without diluting the form (6.7cm long).

The result feels grounded, elemental. Nothing overstated. Just a distilled sense of place—of still heat, stone, and space.
