N°098 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

The sand anemone I photographed revealed an astonishing play of translucence and patterning—its tentacles coiling and curling, banded in tones of crimson, amber, and shadow. What struck me most was the visual rhythm, a living architecture that simultaneously conveys motion and stillness. That intricate surface anatomy became the direct blueprint for these earrings, a translation of biology into geometry.

The centerpiece is a remarkable example of intarsia craftsmanship: an onyx frame housing Australian mookaite and Japanese landscape jasper. The stones echo the layered striations of the anemone’s tissue, with deep reds, ochres, and sandy textures arranged in bands that mirror the organism’s chromatic gradients. Above, a delicate stack of hessonite, onyx, and carnelian amplifies the fiery palette, while silver rings provide a sense of flow—circles balancing the linear stonework.

I see these earrings as a dialogue between the sea’s natural artistry and human interpretation. They are bold yet rooted in ecological precision, carrying the essence of the reef into a wearable form. For me, they are a reminder of how patterns born in sand and seawater can be reframed into enduring objects of beauty.
