After weeks of rain and grey skies, today finally delivered the kind of coast I crave: deep blue water, open sky and sunlight strong enough to bring these stones to life.

Perhaps that’s why I am so drawn to Maligano Jasper in winter. When the days are cold and colour seems in short supply, I find myself reaching for warmth wherever I can find it. Not necessarily heat, but the feeling of it. The rich honey, amber and golden-orange tones in these stones feel like sunlight captured and preserved.

Found in just one remote location in Sulawesi, Indonesia, Maligano Jasper is one of the most extraordinary landscape stones I have ever worked with. Every piece reveals its own miniature world of fractured cliffs, winding valleys and distant horizons, ensuring that no two earrings are ever alike. Each carries its own unmistakable fingerprint.

To enhance that sense of light, I paired the Maligano Jasper with faceted quartz crystals that catch and reflect every available ray (6.9cm long; they are more citrine yellow- just look a little green against the blue sky). Together they create a design that feels bright, uplifting and quietly optimistic, particularly for those long winter months when Sydney and Melbourne seem determined to forget what blue skies look like.

Finished with 22-carat gold-plated and silver-plated components sourced from Seoul and Jaipur, these earrings are a small piece of sunshine for the days when you need it most.
