N°073 Statement Earrings - The Sri Lanka Collection

When Ceylon just puts an elephant beside the Road...

Sometimes Sri Lanka simply puts an elephant beside the road and carries on as though nothing remarkable has happened. We were driving along, going somewhere entirely unrelated to elephants, when there he was: a young wild bull, standing peacefully in the greenery, reaching into the branches and leisurely eating his lunch. 

I translated that chance encounter into these earrings with luminous green prehnite from Congo and cascading silver-plated leaves from Toronto, allowing the stones to bring in that wonderful filtered Sri Lankan light (7.5cm long).

They are graceful and rather elegant, yet behind them sits something beautifully wild: the memory of a country where you can simply be driving down the road and discover an elephant having lunch beside you.
