In a rock pool, colour briefly abandoned restraint. The algae — impossibly royal blue, edged with peacock greens and shifting bronze undertones — carried the same spectral instability that makes labradorite so visually arresting. Nothing static, nothing predictable, just light sliding across living surfaces like a moving interference pattern.

That was the translation point. These hybrid labradorite–lapis intarsia stones, shaped by master cutters in Jaipur, hold that identical volatility: at rest a quiet silver-brown composure, then suddenly an ignition of saturated blues, greens, molten gold when the light finally aligns.

Labradorite is infamous for this — notoriously difficult to photograph because its brilliance is conditional, fleeting, mercilessly dependent on angle and illumination. Capturing that flare required patience and exact light, but the behaviour is the entire intrigue.

Cut into elongated drops measuring 6.5 centimetres and anchored in a 22K gold-plated base from Seoul and the U.S., the stones echo the algae’s visual language — fluid, iridescent, light-responsive.
