Giant Clam Tissue Inspiration & Amazing Lore

For as long as I can remember, I have been attracted to Malachite- just as all followers of the goddess Venus were. The depth and delicate banding of the green (thank you Copper!) compares to nothing else on this planet.
And I love its lore, because long before it became admired in Europe, Malachite played a key role in ancient Egyptian rituals, symbolising vegetation, new life and fertility and death often referred to as entering the “field of malachite”.
And of course, Cleopatra is said to have worn crushed Malachite in her eye shadow… LOL… what’s not to love?

Mixed with  Lapis Lazuli  & Chalcedony and set into a silver-plated ase, these earrings have been inspired the most beautiful tissue of a Tridacnid Giant Clam I came across on a reef top near Flores Island.

The contrast between Lapis Lazuli’s deep celestial blue and Malachite’s lush green mirrors the vivid interplay of color seen on the clam’s surface, where light and shadow create an almost holographic effect.
