Brain corals have always captivated me with their rhythmic, maze-like ridges—an ecological architecture that slows water flow, captures nutrients, and provides shelter for countless reef organisms. Their folds are both functional and mesmerizing, combining geometry and biology in a way that feels almost sculptural. It was this intricate surface, along with the striking interplay of burnt orange tissue against turquoise highlights, that became the blueprint for these earrings.

I selected faceted Amazonite to echo the cool turquoise sheen of the coral’s surface, and paired it with hessonite garnet to reflect the deep, fiery orange of living tissue under sunlight. The stones are framed in 22k gold-plated bases, with hammered Vermeil drops cascading like extensions of the coral’s sinuous valleys. The repetition of form in the metal mirrors the coral’s endless patterning—orderly yet organic.

Wearing these is like carrying a fragment of the reef’s quiet intelligence, a reminder of how structure and color combine to sustain both beauty and life.
