The flamboyant mantle tissue of a tridacnid clam is an extraordinary living surface—densely folded, layered with iridophores, and alive with symbiotic algae.
These cells refract and scatter light, turning sunlight into energy, while at the same time producing the clam’s dazzling blues and greens.
It is a rare instance where ecology and physics collaborate to create both survival and spectacle.
 
In these earrings, I used chrysocolla to echo that vibrancy, its shifting turquoise and deep blue tones reminiscent of the clam’s ever-changing patterns. Set into a silver-plated base, the design captures both structure and fluidity.

For me, they are an invitation to carry a fragment of reef ingenuity—where necessity is transformed into brilliance—with you in daily life.
