A Serious Case of the Ceylon Blues

Sri Lanka seems to have invented its own spectrum somewhere between blue and green. It is in the Indian Ocean shifting from turquoise to impossible cobalt, in palm-shadowed lagoons, painted doors, saris, lotus flowers and those extraordinary flashes of colour that seem to appear everywhere once you start looking for them.

By wonderful coincidence, I also had a lucky break recently and managed to get my hands on some exceptional chrysocolla in malachite from one of my Indian stone suppliers.
Originating in the Congo, material of this quality is exceptionally rare these days, with intensely saturated turquoise, emerald and deep mineral blue swirling through completely natural patterns.

In these earrings, I have tried to translate that extraordinary blue-green side of Sri Lanka through Chrysocolla in Malachite from Congo and tiny quartz crystals set into a 22k gold-plated base from Jaipur & Seoul (7.2cm long).

Like all our pieces, these one-of-a-kind earrings are handcrafted with love and care in our studio in Lennox Head.
