N°005 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

The tissue morphology of giant clams has always struck me as a living painting - broad strokes of turquoise, green, and indigo threaded with intricate micro-patterns that shimmer under changing light. These folds of living tissue, expanded to maximize photosynthetic exchange with symbiotic algae, were the direct blueprint for these earrings.

Translating that biology into adornment, I worked with exquisite chrysocolla pieces whose naturally marbled surfaces echo the clam’s iridescent topography. Their geometry—long, rectangular forms with softened edges—mirrors the layered contours of the mantle.

Each stone is paired with a single green onyx bead, chosen for its saturated translucence that recalls the clam’s deeper pigments, and connected through hammered silver discs that emphasize texture while keeping the composition cohesive. The silver-plated base frames these elements simply, allowing the mineral patterns to hold visual dominance.

For me, this design is more than an ornament; it is a translation of reef physiology into form. Just as the clam’s tissue filters light into radiance, these earrings invite the wearer to carry a fragment of that living brilliance with them.
