The bulbous tips of this anemone, with their exquisite translucence and subtle marbling of colour, became the direct muse for these earrings. When I first encountered this colony while snorkelling, I was struck by the way light moved across the tissue—each polyp refracting green, purple, and pink in shifting, almost gemstone-like tones. Translating that living anatomy into jewellery meant choosing stones that carried both depth and movement.
At the heart of the design is African jade of exceptionally high quality, chosen for its striking marbling that resembles flowing currents across stone. Its polished discs echo the rounded form of the anemone’s tips, while the rich garnet and tourmaline beads add tonal contrast, recalling the anemone’s violet hues. Freshwater pearls are threaded into the design, a soft, luminous counterbalance that mirrors the anemone’s living sheen. All are framed within a 22k gold-plated base, adding warmth and structure.
For me, these earrings hold the rhythm of reef life—fluid, resilient, and endlessly patterned. They invite not just adornment, but an encounter with the same awe I feel when science and beauty converge beneath the surface.
