N°24 Statement Earrings

These dragon vein agate, carnelian, and amethyst earrings set in a 22k gold-plated base are my tribute to one of the most mesmerizing partnerships I’ve encountered underwater—the symbiotic cleaning shrimp living on the underside of a cushion sea urchin in Tonga.

When I first spotted these shrimp nestled within the mosaic of orange and brown tubercles of the sea urchin, I knew I had to recreate that rich, textured beauty in jewellery. The dragon vein agate, with its crackled depth, mimics the intricate armor of the urchin, while carnelian captures the fiery hues of the invertebrate's spiny surface. Topping off the design, amethyst beads echo the hidden violet undertones of the shrimp's delicate legs, adding an unexpected pop of contrast.
