N°068 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

My chance meeting with this turtle was brief but deeply imprinted—the geometry of its carapace and the intricate veining of its flippers carried the same quiet complexity I’ve always studied in coral tissue. I wanted to translate that into metal and stone.

In these earrings, the chrysocolla discs echo the patchwork mosaics of a reef seen from above: turquoise, sand, and deep mineral fractures. Tiny inclusions of apatite, chalcedony, and agate break the surface like living textures, their differences mimicking the layering of shell and skin.

The silver-plated lattice above the discs takes its cue from the turtle’s patterned flippers—an open, almost cellular structure, light yet strong. A small column of stones joins metal to mineral, creating a continuity of form, as if the turtle’s motion through water had been paused and distilled.

Wearing these is not just ornament, but an echo of encounter translating a fleeting swim with a turtle into something enduring and alive.
