When I first encountered the underside of a cushion sea star, I was struck by the geometry of its tissues—the mosaic of polygonal cells, each outlined by fine ridges, converging into a central star-like symmetry. 
It is an architecture of strength and delicacy, a hidden surface that speaks of both order and resilience.

Translating this ecology into form, I turned to rhodonite, whose pink and black patterns echo the sea star’s cellular tapestry, and paired it with onyx to ground the design in depth. The silver-plated spirals reference both skeletal patterning and the motion of water across living reef surfaces.
For me, these earrings hold the quiet wonder of hidden reef textures, an invitation to see beauty in the overlooked... unless you are like me a serial sea-star flipper!
