The Elegance of Complexity

Night dives have a way of rewriting scale. On the wreck of the USS Liberty in Tulamben, what first appeared as a modest cluster of life revealed itself, under torchlight, as something closer to a living metropolis — sea squirts, sponges, hydroids, bryozoans, worms, nudibranchs — a hundred small citizens layered into one impossibly intricate city.

These earrings began as an attempt to honour that density rather than simplify it.

Prehnite from Congo carries that aqueous, almost liquid glow, its soft luminescence interrupted by telltale black manganese inclusions that feel less like imperfections and more like movement, like life suspended inside stone. Raw chameleon stone deepens the composition, mottled, textured, unapologetically organic. Nothing polished into submission. Nothing forced into symmetry.

Set into silver-plated elements, the stones resolve into structure, contrast, and quiet complexity.

At 8.2 centimetres long, they echo the wreck itself — layered, alive, endlessly rewarding to those who look twice.
