N°56 Christmas 2025 Special Earrings

I met "her" while snorkeling off Tathra — this extraordinary creature that looked like something between lace and lungs, growing on a shallow rocky reef.
A colonial ascidian — a whole community disguised as a single being. The kind of thing that humbles you, really, because it reminds you how the ocean builds cathedrals out of biology.

That meeting stayed with me. I wanted to translate that impossible beauty — the silky white tissue, the micro-perforated geometry — into something you could wear.

So these earrings were born: smooth mother-of-pearl domes, golden woven orbs echoing the ascidian’s lattice, and a single pearl suspended like a breath bubble (7.1cm long). They feel oceanic — not in a touristy seashell way, but in that quiet, tidal, I-know-where-I-come-from kind of way.

These earrings are a small tribute to this stunning often overlooked creature — and to every woman that lives the world the same way: quietly extraordinary, endlessly resilient, and always, somehow, luminous.
