Carry the Tides—Labradorite & Gold-Dipped Neritid Snail Earrings Inspired by Boulder Bay’s Rockpool Wanderers

Every time I return to this stunning rockpool at Boulder Bay, I’m greeted by tiny Neritid snails clinging to the intertidal rocks, moving with the ebb and flow of the tide. These little resilient mollusks,  became the perfect inspiration for these handcrafted Labradorite and gold-dipped Neritid snail earrings.

Just like the tide pools reflect the sky, the faceted Labradorites flash with iridescence, revealing streaks of teal, navy, and gold depending on the light. Their smooth, rounded shape echoes the naturally polished stones beneath the water, where the snails make their home.

Hanging below the gemstones, the tiny real gold-dipped Neritid snails look very much like saltwater encases them in a glistening sheen at low tide. The fine ridges on the shells mimic the textured rock formations where these creatures navigate the ever-changing conditions of the intertidal zone. Their spiraled form represents the endless movement of the ocean, an ever-turning cycle of retreat and return.
