N°043 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

When I snorkel over staghorn coral thickets, I am always struck by the delicacy of the reef’s tiniest inhabitants. The juvenile blue-green chromis, no larger than a centimetre, hover in shimmering schools among the rounded branch tips, taking shelter in the coral’s intricate lattice of tissue and calcium carbonate. This delicate interplay of protection and movement was the spark for these earrings.

I translated that ecological vignette into form by pairing rare oceanic jasper from Madagascar—stones that carry swirling blues and sandy textures reminiscent of the reef’s surface—with a single chalcedony bead set into a vermilion and gold-plated base. 
The Sterling silver charms reflects the branching architecture of staghorn coral, while the elongated teardrop stones echo the coral polyps’ clustered shapes. Together with tiny colour spots of Apatite & Chalcedony, these elements create both strength and fluidity, just as the reef itself holds shelter and motion in balance.
