N°038 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

The tridacnid clam is a master of light, its mantle tissue rippling with folds embedded with iridophores that scatter sunlight, feeding the symbiotic algae within.
This functional brilliance transforms the clam’s surface into one of the reef’s most flamboyant displays—bands of electric blue and green shifting with every movement of water.

I wanted to capture that interplay of structure and luminosity in these earrings. Chrysocolla holds the clam’s vivid palette, while green onyx reflects the depth of its folds. Tiny lapis lazuli beads serve as points of contrast, much like the speckled markings across the mantle.

Set into a silver-plated base, this design is a celebration of resilience expressed through extravagance—an echo of reef life’s ability to turn necessity into beauty.
