N°038 Statement Earrings - The Sri Lanka Collection

Turquoise Passage

Some images don’t leave politely. They simply move in and rearrange the furniture.

This one did exactly that: a woman in an impossibly beautiful turquoise sari, walking along railway tracks toward some unknowable destination, the gold border catching the light, her skin and dark braid lit by the late sun. I have no idea where she was going, which is probably part of the reason the image stayed with me. It had that rare, accidental perfection — colour, movement, heat, and a kind of self-contained elegance.

These earrings are my translation of that moment. I wanted the gold and silver to echo the sari’s luminous gold edging against cooler tones, and the blue-green Labradorites (hit by the perfect light) to hold that same saturated turquoise that made the whole scene feel almost unreal (8.5cm long).
The layered shapes felt right too — ornamental, slightly architectural, and just a little bit regal.
