Nothing quite prepares you for meeting a squid on a night snorkel. One moment there is only darkness, torch beam, drifting particles — and then suddenly a small, hovering organism turns the water column into theatre. Chromatophores pulse, contract, ignite; colour races across the body in electric blues that feel less like pigment and more like light briefly borrowing biology. This individual was barely six or seven centimetres long, yet the spectacle was wildly disproportionate — a living, flickering event you couldn’t quite visually hold onto.

Raw kyanite, set into silver-plated bezels, carries that same elusive blue — not sparkle, not flash, but a saturated, fluid depth that shifts as the light moves, a colour that resists being pinned down.
