Cushion Sea Urchin Underbelly, Muted Namibian Fire

There are creatures that politely sit within expectation, and then there are cushion sea urchins — dinner-plate-sized enigmas that look like someone took the clean geometry of a sea star and inflated it into a living, breathing paradox. 
I’ll admit without hesitation that I am a shameless, repeat offender when it comes to flipping them over (and gently returning them), because the real spectacle lives underneath: an almost hypnotic pentasymmetry spiralling around the mouthparts, five arms still written into the architecture like a fossilised memory of ancestry, every individual wearing a pattern so precise it feels designed rather than grown.

That visual ambush — rich blues colliding with warm, luminous oranges — became the structural backbone of these earrings. Hand-hammered 22-carat gold-plated discs echo the textured, studded surface, while the gentle orange & blue Namibia-blue elements slice downward like elongated reflections of that radial symmetry stretched into motion.
Tiny chameleon stones drift through tones of orange, from barely-there glow to deep, quietly replicating the subtle chromatic gradients of living tissue (6.9cm long).

The result is less imitation, more translation — biology rewritten as form, symmetry recast as movement, reef architecture distilled into something wearable.
