When Geology Discovers Polka Dots

Some stones whisper. Peanut obsidian jasper from Madagascar absolutely does not. Those saturated burnt-orange orbs, suspended in a smoky volcanic matrix, read like deliberate design, yet they are pure geology — iron-rich fluids diffusing through silica during cooling, precipitating iron oxides that organised themselves into these improbable circular bursts. It’s pattern born from chemistry, not decoration, and the visual effect is gloriously unruly, somewhere between planetary and cellular.

I paired the stone with tiny carnelians and agates to amplify that deep, molten spectrum, then anchored everything in a 22k gold-plated base from Seoul and Istanbul, letting the colour story do what it does best: command attention without shouting.

The inspiration reaches back to Tulamben, drifting along a reef wall at depth where colonies of intensely orange polyps glowed against the blue, their repeating discs impossible to ignore — a living echo now stretched into a sculptural line that settles along the ear at roughly 6.3 centimetres, carrying movement, memory, and a small slice of volcanic theatre.
