This began with a moment I still can’t quite explain, because in more than forty years underwater I had never seen it before and haven’t seen it since—a fungiid coral that should have been singular, one animal, one mouth, one clean logic, and yet here, off Vanuatu, I found myself hovering over something that quietly broke that rule, three mouths set into one luminous body, three beginnings fused into a single organism that pulsed with blush, magenta, lime and near-white, so unexpectedly beautiful that I stopped thinking altogether and just stayed, suspended in that rare, unrepeatable kind of awe.

That sense of something slightly impossible carries through the piece, built across two necklaces that resist neat symmetry, the outer strand moving in a deliberate, off-centre rhythm through elongated, high-grade Biwa pearls, Canadian lemon jade, Brazilian agates, fine chips of natural peridot and dendritic quartz—those ink-like inclusions that feel almost like shadows inside the stone—while the inner necklace draws the palette inward with smooth pearls and lemon jade cubes, allowing just a whisper of blush to surface. Both can be worn alone, layered, or extended into one long, fluid line through their chains, shifting the composition rather than fixing it.
At the centre of the smaller necklace sits a pendant I held back for over a decade, a piece so confronting and strange it reads almost like an eye, a pink, retina-like surface that finally found its place here.

The earrings follow that same freedom of mood, from small, precise stacks of lemon jade, agate and pearls, to elongated blush drops suspended from fine hammered gold forms, all 22-carat gold-plated from Istanbul.

The three earring directions carry that same sense of quiet wonder:
The first pair sits closest to the reef in tone: small, deliberate stacks of lemon jade, Brazilian agate and soft pearls, threaded with fine gold elements (4.6cm).

In the second pair, a sculptural stack of quartz anchors the drop, lifted by a luminous pearl and a sharp hit of lime and blush that feels almost edible in its colour clarity. Set on elongated gold ear wires, the whole composition reads like a tiny, perfectly balanced column—playful, tactile, and quietly architectural (6.5cm long).
