Sri Lanka — A Love Letter in Colour

Sri Lanka does colour with glorious abandon!This particular pair is my little love letter to that exuberance, translating the colours, contrasts and wonderful visual excess I encountered in Sri Lanka into stone and metal. Of course a chance meeting with a Buddhist nun with a wicked sense of humour is an particularly wonderful inspiration!

I wanted it to feel joyful and instinctive, because that is how colour exists there: unexpected, fearless and absolutely everywhere.In this pair, I have translated that experience through carnelia, Montana banded agates and tiny quartz crystals (7.5cm long), set into a 22k gold & silver-plated base from Jaipur & Seoul.

These earrings are a small, wearable memory of Sri Lanka,saturated, joyful and slightly outrageous, and perhaps just the right jolt of tropical colour, wherever you are and whatever the Australian winter throws at you.
