Yes, I Fish—but Only for Compliments

This piece came together after one of those elusive snorkels where the water clarity is dreamlike and everything is bathed in the gentle refracted shimmer of early morning. I spotted a school of juvenile trevally darting between bommie shadows, and it was the glint on their bodies that reminded me of the way light reflects on mother-of-pearl or pearls. You know the kind—opaline with a glowy translucency that refuses to behave under studio lights but absolutely comes alive in sunlight. So I decided to work with that trickster quality.
The three stacked mother-of-pearl domes form the centrepiece, channel-set in gold, cascading like a marine totem pole, with a cheeky gold fish pendant anchoring the whole story—because subtle humour or just love of fish is "a thing".

But you can also simply detach the fish and swap it for a huge gold-plated shiny flamball pearl!

Around the neckline, I combined natural silvery pearls, agates and labradorite to give the illusion of movement— like scales catching current.
Both necklaces can be worn separately or connected to create one long necklace.

On the ears, you’ve got options:

• The longer drop earrings use oxidised gold links to echo tide pool structures and feature both pearl and faceted kyanite (6.9cm long), while the shorter pair goes minimal with a mother-of-pearl drop that glows like bioluminescence on a dark reef wall .

This set is a timeless classic that has gravitas, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously—like me, on a good day. Honestly, it feels polished, but also a bit rebellious.
