N°1531 Statement Earrings

Moonstone is revered for its shimmering, ethereal hues from milky white to pale blue, which appear to move across the surface like moonlight (a quality known as adularescence). For me it very much resembles the shimmering play of light on the ocean’s surface at dawn or moonrise in the Lord How Lagoon!

From a chemical point of view, this captivating blue on/ off effect is caused by light scattering between microscopic layers of feldspar minerals within the stone and thus it has been cherished in many cultures for centuries, symbolizing intuition, femininity & emotional balance.

With these elegant moonstone earrings (7.3cm) I aimed for a modern, yet organic design.
At the top, textured rectangular silver-plated pieces with open-cut windows create a contemporary geometric element. Suspended beneath are delicate gold-plated settings that cradle four oval-shaped moonstones, arranged symmetrically in a cascading formation. Each moonstone exhibits a captivating play of blue and white hues, highlighting their ethereal adularescence when struck by light. With the combination of cool silver, warm gold, and the shimmering moonstones I aim to evoke a balance of sophistication and natural beauty. Perfect for both casual and more formal occasions, these earrings celebrate the timeless charm and mysticism of moonstone and the natural beauty of Lord Howe Island.
