N°127 Statement Earrings - The Sri Lanka Collection

Honey Horses

I spent a week on this beach, where the sea was an almost ridiculous turquoise by day, but towards evening everything changed. The palms, the sand, the tables, even the air seemed to turn shiraz, eggplant and burnt honey. It was at that exact little table by the beach that I did a great deal of drawing — and sketched out some of the ideas that eventually found their way into this collection.

My wonderfully whimsical verdigris horses came from Athens, but their blue-green patina seemed made for that Sri Lankan sea. This time I paired them with deep burnt-orange quartz, picking up the honeyed light of those evenings, with tiny rose quartz, water melon tourmaline and garnet details and a 22k gold-plated base carrying the glow all the way through the earrings (6.3cm long).

A little bit Athens, a great deal Sri Lanka,  designed somewhere between a turquoise sea and my dinner table.
