The Tuk-Tuk Made Me Do It

Not every piece of jewellery needs to begin with a temple, a sunset or an epiphany. Sometimes the colour combination is simply sitting beside the road waiting for you.

In Sri Lanka, tuk-tuks are part of the visual rhythm of everyday life, and this particular one stopped me: deep royal blue parked against an almost outrageous rose-pink wall. Completely ordinary, completely accidental, and somehow a fabulous piece of colour theory.

In these earrings, I tried to translate that chance encounter using richly patterned blue Dragon Vein Agate from Brazilphotographed in full sun, tiny rose quartz crystals for that unexpected flicker of pink, and a 22-carat gold-plated base to give the whole combination warmth and elegance (7.3cm long).

They’re for days when sophisticated doesn’t have to mean restrained—when a small collision of improbable colours is exactly what you feel like wearing.
