A Little Space Around the Noise

There is something quietly powerful about jewellery inspired by a place designed for contemplation. At the great stupas of Anuradhapura, pilgrims walk barefoot and clockwise around these immense white forms, repeating the circuit as an act of meditation. I joined them, and somewhere in all that walking understood the appeal: sometimes the greatest luxury is simply having enough space in your head to think.

These earrings carry a little of that idea. Shifting labradorite moves between smoky silver, muted gold and sudden flashes of light, surrounded by an intricate gold-and-silver-plated base, while tiny clear quartz crystals catch whatever colour happens to be around them (7.6cm long).

In these earrings, I tried to translate that extraordinary combination of simplicity, light and contemplation into something you can wear—a little reminder, perhaps, to leave some room for yourself.
