Some stones behave like materials. Others behave like landscapes. This chrysocolla from the Congo never once felt like a gemstone to me; it felt like looking down from altitude, like a window seat over a reef where colour, depth, and geology collapse into something that barely looks real.

Within those semi-opaque blues live entire worlds — lagoons dissolving into open water, coral patches drifting like ink stains, soft gradients that read like weather systems rather than mineral structure. The plates are impossibly lightweight, yet visually vast, carrying the illusion of scale the reef does so effortlessly.

Peruvian amazonite, tiny agates, and flashes of apatite slip into the composition like currents moving through water. And that golden sun? Perhaps because every reef, every colour, every pulse of life below the surface is ultimately powered by a distant star — sunlight translated into biology, now translated once more into something wearable. At seven centimetres, these earrings hold an entire aerial seascape.
