A Little Divine Assistance Never Hurts

There is something compelling about wearing jewellery that carries more than colour. Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, has been invoked for centuries at moments of change, new beginnings and uncertain roads ahead, and that symbolism gives these earrings a wonderful sense of optimism without requiring them to take themselves too seriously.

They are also unapologetically individual: weathered turquoise Mediterranean charms from Athens, fiery Brazilian agates, tiny hessonite garnet cubes from India, and silver-plated elements from Bali and Seoul create that fabulous collision of turquoise, orange, silver and earth (7.6cm long).

The inspiration came from a brilliantly coloured Ganesha I photographed in a Sri Lankan temple, in a country where reverence for the elephant—both living and divine—runs extraordinarily deep.

In these earrings,photographed in full sun,  I tried to translate that experience into something you can wear: a little colour, a little symbolism, and perhaps a quiet reminder that obstacles are there to be moved.
