Gold, Silver and a Sea of White

During Poson Poya, surrounded by what was reported to be around 600,000 pilgrims, Sri Lanka seemed to strip itself back to something elemental: white clothing, ancient stone, flashes of temple gold and silver light. My husband and I dressed in white too, and being welcomed into that immense gathering remains one of the most moving experiences of our journey.

This pair grew from that memory. I used golden labradorite, quieter and more mysterious than its electric-blue cousin, with smoky depths that suddenly release warm flashes of gold when the light finds them. Set into a gold and silver-plated base, the stones sit above long, liquid silver tassels that move beautifully with the body, almost like threads of light (8.9cm long).

In these earrings, I tried to translate the serenity, luminosity and extraordinary human scale of those days into something you can actually wear.
