N°094 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

The reef anemone on the right caught my eye not for its drama, but for its subtle interplay of hues and forms: the warm green-yellow tentacle tips rising above the cooler, ridged base of its body. This morphology, both rhythmic and soft, became the precise blueprint for the earrings on the left.

I chose rare Owyhee opal from Oregon as the central stone, not only for its rarity but for its uncanny resemblance to the striated blue-grey body of the anemone. Its natural banding mirrors the delicate folds of the animal’s anatomy, grounding the design in ecology. Suspended below, drops of dragon vein agate in green-yellow tones echo the luminous tentacle tips, their crackled patterns tracing the same intricate surface textures seen underwater. The silver-plated framework adds lightness, allowing the stones to take the lead in form and meaning.

For me, these earrings are more than adornment—they hold the tactile memory of an anemone’s living surface. They remind me that even the smallest details of reef life can be portals into new ways of seeing and wearing the ocean.
