N°086 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

The magenta-hued colonies of Dendronephthya soft corals are some of the most flamboyant and structurally complex organisms on the reef. Their branching, tree-like morphology and intensely saturated colour create living underwater tapestries that pulse with life. It was exactly this interplay of vibrancy and fine detail that inspired these earrings.

For the main stones, I chose exquisitely patterned crazy lace agate from Mexico, whose swirling black and pink veining echoes the labyrinthine textures of the coral branches. Stacked above are additional pieces of agate and a tiny touch of tourmaline, each carefully placed to amplify the depth of colour and layering. All elements are set into a silver-plated base, which frames the intensity of the stones while introducing a crisp, reflective balance.

In these earrings, I see the reef’s exuberance translated into mineral form—soft tissue becoming stone, ephemeral colonies becoming wearable art, and science merging seamlessly with design.
